STM-based LoRa® transceiver module

Overview

The LoRa® FMLR RF modules enable wireless connectivity to almost all devices, systems and sensors communicating at low datarate over a distance of more than 50 km. Power consumption of the underlying nodes can be optimized to run from a small-sized battery, while the integrated wake on radio (WoR) allows the system to operate in a duty-cycled manner. The optionally integrated ARM Cortex-M0+ 32-bit microcontroller runs the entire RF stack and has sufficient resources available for the integration of additional applications. The system can easily be extended with additional low power sensors on the external carrier board to build out-of-the-box IoT sensor networks.

All FMLR modules are prepared for seamless integration into LoRaWAN®. The LoRaWAN software stack is available as an open source solution and can be run on the integrated microcontroller. The modules are available with additional on-board flash memory to allow Over-the-Air (OTA) update.

In order to provide backward compatible upgrade paths for grown products and systems, the FMLR family supports additional
modulation schemes over LoRa. These modulation schemes include (G)FSK, (G)MSK, ASK, and OOK. Highly configurable OTA packet formats enable the communication with standards like Wireless Mbus and IEEE802.15.4g. The modules allow also the emulation of proprietary systems such as Nordic NRF905 or NRF9E5 with enhanced coverage range.

In order to support fast prototyping and development, the proprietary firmware including the wireless stack can be updated via SWD, UART-Bootloader, or OTA.
