What does industrial AI look like when it runs directly on-device, and how is it even possible?
Daniel Besse, senior IC designer at CSEM, details how we combined their ultra-low-power Fibonacci AI chip with our modular wireless communication platform to create a compact, battery-powered wireless node for industrial IoT (IIoT) applications. Here's how it all works:
Fibonacci's dedicated ML accelerators continuously process sensor data:
- vibration
- motion/image data
- audio signals
Instead of streaming said raw data, the instead node runs neural network models to specifically detect anomalies, triggering communication - only when it's needed.
Our proven radio module, the "miro FMLR," handles the wireless transmission between the device and the gateway. Designed to be modular, different wireless connectivity standards ( e.g. LoRa or mioty ) can be swapped onto the same baseboard - without needing a total design overhaul.
Adaptive power modes and a hardware-optimized compiler help scale energy usage to the actual workload, making the node ideal for long-term industrial deployments.
Lower power consumption + less bandwidth usage + reduced infrastructure load = Industrial IoT-ready wireless node.
